The Athlete’s Closet is the result of great people wanting to do a great thing – help their fellow man.  This year has presented many Americans with economic hurdles; people are losing their jobs and homes at an alarming rate.  Excess is becoming a thing of the past, and keeping or acquiring the basics – food, clothing, shelter – are at the forefront of our nation’s consciences.

But in the balance of these tumultuous times, there are those who have an unshakeable calling to reach out and lessen the burden of the misfortuned.  We at The Athlete’s Closet are blessed to call many of those people friends.  Together, we have pledged to help feed our country’s hungry, clothe the poor, and make a difference where we are able.

The Athlete’s Closet raises money to buy clothing and food for the poor through the online auctioning of gently worn and pre-owned designer clothing, gear, and accessories.  Our auctions enable us to not only feed and clothe those in great need, but also offer some pampering (Gucci at $20!) to those who have a little, love a great deal, and love even more to give back.

The Athlete’s Closet is powered by the 1st Touch Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization founded by Chicago Cubs’ first-baseman Derrek Lee and his wife, Christina.
